GE presents snap-shot of 2010 Australian
camera releases

Following a sneak preview for visitors at the Digital Life Expo in Melbourne earlier this month, GE has announced the complete range of digital cameras it will release in Australia throughout the year.

Offering innovation in features and design, and an optimum balance between technology, style and functionality, GE is set to launch four series of cameras. These include the Power Series, the Active Series, the Design Series and the Smart Series. Each has been designed following extensive research into the unique needs of photographers, taking into account different levels of experience, end uses and personal preferences.

According to GE's Australian distributor Tasco, the GE camera range aims to offer something for everyone.

"From family photo fanatics to active outdoor shooters and even the style-conscious shutterbug, the new range of GE cameras has got everyone covered," said Stewart Pickersgill, General Manager – Digital Camera Sales Division. "The 2010 family is feature-packed, yet easy to use, offering consumers more value at a remarkable price."

GE Power Series
Models: Pro X5

Available: June 2010
GE moves beyond point-and-shoot technology with the new X5. It defines the Power Pro Series with the latest in intuitive high-tech features all captured in a professional, easy to use and compact design. A powerful 15x wide zoom teamed with advanced optical image stabilisation technology enables the photographer to get closer to the action and shoot like a pro. Meanwhile the camera's high dynamic range delivers evenly exposed images, even in challenging light conditions. In response to demands from serious photographers, the X5 touts an electronic viewfinder in addition to the 2.7" LCD viewscreen.

Models: E1486TW and E1480W

For focused photographers looking for more power and performance at an affordable price, the E1486TW and E1480W are loaded with highly coveted features, including the ability to shoot 720 x 1080 high definition movies and an amazing 8x optical wide zoom. Teamed with advanced optical image stabilisation technology, the cameras deliver images with incredible clarity and precision. Incredibly slim, both models are available in black, red and silver. The E1486TW also features a touch screen.

GE Active Series
Models: G5WP

The waterproof 12.2 megapixel G5WP features a sturdy metal body and 4x internal zoom lens to capture amazing pictures or video footage of underwater scenes or above ground action. Ideal for the active family or outdoor enthusiast, the G5WP will be available in grey, red and blue.

GE Design Series
Models: Create 8 and Create 4 (previously announced)

The GE Create by Jason Wu collection is a unique line of point-and-shoot cameras inspired by the fashion designer's love of luxurious detail and timeless style. With a focus on simplicity, each camera offers one-touch buttons to effortlessly take pictures and record videos, a large built-in memory and a retractable USB connector for convenient transfer or viewing of images on laptops, desktop computers and televisions with USB ports. Other features include a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.7" high definition LCD screen. Available in a metal or leather finish and a variety of on-trend shades, each GE Create camera comes standard with stylish accessories including a leather camera purse and elegant wrist and neck straps.

GE Smart Series

The sleek new J1455 and J1250 digital cameras provide exceptional value for anyone looking for the latest camera features to help them take better pictures. Blink, smile and face detection technologies are complemented by in-camera red eye removal to help deliver perfect portraits. Available in black, silver and red, the J1455 is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, while the J1250 takes standard batteries. For maximum versatility, both cameras utilise a 5x optical zoom lens.

Models: A1455 and A1255

The A1255 and A1455 are two dependable and stylish cameras with intuitive features that make beautiful photography accessible. Each camera offers 5x optical zoom and a 2.7" LCD screen to easily preview images. For the everyday photographer who seeks immaculate detail the A1455 offers 14 megapixels of resolution for crystal clear enlargements, compared to the A1255's 12 megapixels. Both cameras are available in black, silver and red.

Models: C1233 and C1033 (previously announced)

GE's new C Series cameras are designed to be budget-friendly, yet feature-packed with top of the line technologies found in pricier models such as electronic image stabilisation, face detection and red-eye removal. The C1233 and C1033 are available in black, silver and red.
