GE Premieres World's Brightest, Slimmest Projector Camera
GE is set to raise the bar on the camera competition with the introduction of the PJ1. The new pocket-sized shooter features a powerful built-in pico projector that beams photos, videos and other multimedia content onto almost any surface – bigger, brighter and more vibrantly than ever before.
The PJ1 utilises a state-of-the-art Texas Instruments’ DLP projector* which offers a superior contrast ratio of 300:1 to deliver whiter whites, blacker blacks and bolder colours. Setting new benchmarks for performance, projected images are big and bright thanks to the projector’s wide 16:9 aspect ratio and 15 lumens of star power.
Ideal for shooting and sharing holiday happy snaps or fun family videos, the GE PJ1 can also connect to a laptop for broadcasting business presentations to work colleagues or bringing other digital content to life. Focus is easily controlled by a sliding lever on the camera’s top, the rechargeable li-ion battery delivers a remarkable 70 minutes of projection time, and in a darkened room projection size can reach up to 70 inches.

At just 21.2mm thick, the PJ1 is the world’s slimmest projector-cam but don’t be fooled by its size. Aside from being a convenient portable projector, the 14.1 megapixel PJ1 is also a very capable shooter with a 7x wide angle zoom lens (28-196mm) and a host of intelligent features including automatic face recognition and exposure adjustment, smile and blink detection, red eye removal, pan-capture panorama and optical image stabilisation. To ensure camera settings are optimised for every scene, there are more than 25 shooting modes to choose from.
The slick black PJ1 also records 720p HD movies which can be instantly played back on the camera’s wide 3 inch high resolution LCD screen.
A charging base for the PJ1 can be used to stand the camera up during presentations and includes a concealed fan that cools the unit during prolonged use. The PJ1 also comes with a remote control.
Priced at just RRP AU$449, the PJ1 continues the GE tradition of providing consumers with the perfect blend of value, performance, reliability and functionality bundled into feature-rich digital cameras. It will be available from selected photographic and departments stores from May 2011.
