Ocean & Earth Pro Surfer and International Teenage Rampage contest director Phil 'Macca' McDonald hits the waves with the new GE DV1 waterproof mini-camcorder. Here he tells us all about it.

The Ocean and Earth International Teenage Rampage, held at North Cronulla beach in January, saw Australia’s best junior surfers fight against selected wildcards from around the world to be crowned International Champion.
The International Rampage was the grand finale of the series, which stretched through nine regional areas throughout Australia. The four finalists from each regional event, per division qualified for the International. International competitors came from Hawaii, California and New Zealand and were selected from Teenage Rampages run in their respective area.
The surfing was electric from start to finish, with the summer heat beaming down over the entire three-day event. The surf conditions were ideal for the young competitors with perfect three feet waves holding up all weekend.
During the course of the event I was able to test out the new GE DVI HD Mini Camcorder both on land and in the water. I found the camera was really easy to use, especially going between movie and photo mode. The big screen made shooting and watching replays all the more easier and using the zoom was a piece of cake.
On land I was able to shoot some footage of all the kids playing games and just having fun, and also catch a couple of classic quotes using the built-in microphone.
The best part of the camera was that it is waterproof which meant I was able to spend some enjoyable time shooting the kids from the water. The waves were only small so I was able to stand near the shore break as the kids rode past. The camera was super easy to hold in position and I was able to capture some awesome surfing footage. I even caught a few waves myself while still using the movie mode!
